The energy of Intercultural Dance for Social Inclusion / La danse interculturelle pour la cohésion sociale

On May 27 2004 was held the series of workshops entitled 'The energy of intercultural dance for social inclusion/cohesion'. It took place in Locale Culturele Centrum 't Klooster in Rotterdam, in a neighborhood called 'Oude Noorden' where immigrant populations originating from Morocco and Turkey are living.

The workshop was organized by Sacha Kagan and Lyudmila Petrova for the Erasmus Genootschap voor Cultuurmanagement, with funds from Deelgemeente Noord Rotterdam and Cultuurfonds vd Bank der Nederlandse Gemeenten. The guest choreographer was Jean-François Duroure, and many distinguished guests took part.

The day combined and confronted dance practice with theories on art, on dance, on social cohesion and on intercultural interaction... One goal of the day was to work in groups to shape a methodology allowing art managers to organize concrete dance projects with a strong potential for intercultural interaction.
